Where to start, from someone who's been at this a while.

Three decades in this field have taught me that most people getting into pentesting get stuck in the same places — wrong order of topics, too much theory before practice, or jumping into tooling before understanding what they're attacking. This is the path I'd suggest, and the resources to walk it.
